Studio 3 prepares to unleash Toshinden 4 for the Sony PlayStation…
The fighting genre is set to be rejuvenated as the fourth incarnation in the best selling Toshinden series slashes its way on to the Sony PlayStation.
Widely regarded as the most cutting edge of 3D fighting games, Toshinden 4 is back to claim its crown as undisputed beat 'em up king. The fourth instalment ups the ante in every respect, delivering a level of graphical detail and an intricate control system that will leave its rivals in a bloodied heap.
Toshinden 4 continues the ongoing story-line of its successors. Series hero Eiji has mysteriously turned to the dark side, leaving his only son, Subaru, to uphold and avenge the sullied family name. Assisted by Kayin - another veteran of the Toshinden wars - Subaru makes his debut in the Battle Arena as he looks to discover the reason for his father's out-of-character transformation.
This engrossing scenario paves the way for an all-out battle where reflexes, skill and timing become essential to defeat the game's many adversaries. Each bout is played within an incredible 3D location, with every move and counter attack displayed in stunning detail. In keeping with the Toshinden tradition, the fourth game also marries a wealth of stunning showcase moves with bread and butter jabs and blocks. The result is a free-flowing fight boasting cinematic visuals.
The developers at Takara have also implemented a number of key features to ensure Toshinden 4 lives up to its heritage. A new 'overdrive' mode allows players to produce devastating combinations of moves via a simple one button in conjunction with a directional button. As such, while a wealth of new advanced attacks are possible; they are all easy to effect. Toshinden 4 also boasts an innovative three-on-three team battle mode - a new addition to the beat 'em up fold. Two teams of characters can be selected, with a truly incredible battle royale ensuing.
The release of Toshinden 4 is part of the continuing exclusive distribution deal between Virgin Interactive and Studio 3 to release the very best PlayStation titles for the format. With its multiple options and amazing content and appearance, the battle comes to the PlayStation in April 2000. Prepare to fight…
